Erik Gamble (1950 - 2007) was active/lived in Ontario / Canada.  Erik Gamble is known for Pure abstraction painting, mixed-media, serigraph, woodblock printmaking.

Erik Gamble (1950 – 2007)

A prominent Canadian painter and printmaker, Erik Gamble was born in Toronto and lived his whole life there and in its environs. His works were featured in several important group exhibitions and his paintings and prints are in the permanent collections of numerous museums. (1)(2)

His mediums included oils, acrylics, watercolors, pastels, graphite, serigraph*, woodcut*, and mixed mediums. He is best known for his pure abstractions; the subjects thus being color, shape, line and texture. However, he also did paintings of landscapes and other representational subjects; and, several of his works appear to have letters evocative of the Runic alphabet (see “Sorcerer” in askART and some of his woodcuts); however, that is only this writer’s opinion. His styles could be described as Abstraction*, Abstract Expressionism*, Fauvism*, Geometric Abstraction* and Lettrism*.
